Mr. Fred Kalema-Musoke - Chairman
Fred is a Financial and Management Consultant with 25 years of experience in financial management; project analysis and supervision; corporate planning and budgeting; resource management and program monitoring and evaluation. He is retired from IFC (The World Bank), an international and multilateral development institution where he gained experience and a wide knowledge of international business finance and development issues including small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro-enterprises. He also has several years of mission travel experience in Europe and several sub-Saharan African countries. He lives in Burke, Virginia, with his wife, Barbara, and their three sons.

Mr. Hooks Johnston - Treasurer
Hooks is a founding general partner of Valhalla Partners (www.valhallapartners.com), a $177 million venture capital based in Vienna, Virginia. Prior to founding Valhalla Partners, Hooks was a managing director at FBR Technology Venture Partners (FBRTVP) after serving as president and chief operating officer of The Descartes Systems Group, a publicly-traded supply chain software company (Descartes). Prior to his role at Descartes, Hooks was president and chief executive officer at Roadshow International, a venture-backed transportation and logistics software company. In 1997, Hooks negotiated the merger of Roadshow and Descartes Systems Group and became president of the combined company. Hooks received a masters in business administration from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business and a bachelor of science in applied mathematics and economics from Brown University. Hooks, his wife Betsy, and their four children live in McLean, Virginia.

Dr. April Young - Secretary
April is managing director of Comerica Bank’s Mid-Atlantic Region Technology and Life Sciences Division (formerly Imperial Bank) (www.comerica.com). In that role, she is responsible for developing and managing the bank’s portfolio of technology company clients in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast from offices in Reston, Virginia; Durham, North Carolina; and Atlanta, Georgia. April serves on the advisory boards of several early stage technology companies, including Dream Labs, Launch Fuel, My Job Coach and Credible Wireless. She is also a director of several non-profit organizations, including the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association and the International Economic Development Council. April holds bachelors and masters degrees in urban and regional planning from George Washington University, as well as a Ph.D. in public policy analysis from Saint Louis University. She and her husband, Bob Kelly, live in Falls Church, Virginia, with their son.

Mr. Keith Chua
Since 2004, Keith has served as the executive chairman of ABR Holdings. ABR Holdings’ business activities include food service operations in Singapore, Malaysia and China, and retail and distribution operations in South East Asia. He holds a degree in business administration from the University of Singapore. Keith is actively involved in various church and mission agencies including: Vicar’s Warden of St. Andrew’s Cathedral Singapore, Standing Committee of Diocese of Singapore and Provincial Treasurer of Province of South East Asia. Keith lives in Singapore with his wife Irene and their four children.

Bill Eggbeer
Bill is a Director with BDC Advisors LLC in Washington, D.C., where he leads the firm’s physician engagement practice and provides consulting services to healthcare providers and health plans in strategy, business development and facilitating complex business relationships. He began his career in Booz Allen’s healthcare practice and has also worked as a senior executive at Marriott and at Manor Care. Bill holds a Master of Management (MBA) degree in Marketing and Health Services Management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where he was named a Distinguished Scholar and the Outstanding Graduate in Health Services Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies with honors from Lawrence University. Bill is married and has three sons. He is active in his community and his church, St. Dunstan’s Episcopal in Bethesda, Md.
Mr. R. Hartwell Gardner
Now in retirement from Mobile Oil Corporation, Harty currently serves as chairman of Acts 29 Ministries of Marietta, Georgia. He also serves on the Investment Committee of Oil Investment Co. Ltd, a Bermuda-based mutual insurance company; and as a director of Pioneer Natural Resources Inc. of Dallas, Texas. After serving in the U.S. Air Force for three years as a navigator electronic warfare officer, he joined Mobil International in the 1960s, where he served in a variety of financial assignments both here and abroad. In 1974, he became treasurer of Mobil Oil and Mobil Corporation where he served until his retirement in 1995. Harty was born in Medford, Massachusetts, and received a bachelor of arts from Colgate University in economics and majored in finance and international business at Harvard Business School. He has been married to Carolyn McIntyre for 45 years, and they have two children and five grandchildren.

Mr. Patrick Givens
Patrick Givens graduated from University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts; additional education includes first year law school at UNC and advanced insurance industry degrees of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter and Charted Life Underwriter. He has taught Insurance Institute sponsored insurance courses at various local college campuses. Pat is a cradle Episcopalian and served on the vestry of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Mclean, Va., and was active at Holy Comforter in Vienna, Va., on the Finance Committee and with other lay activities. He is also a member of All Saints Anglican Church in Pawleys Island, S.C. Pat was introduced to Five Talents in 2000. After a Business in Mission trip to Kenya, he saw how Five Talents is able to improve the lives of many Kenyans. His other nonprofit work includes four years as a volunteer with the Travelers Aid Society, where he works at a help desk at Dulles Airport and through the Humane Society of United States, he sponsors monthly new letters promoting the kind treatment of animals in 101 classrooms in rural Alaskan villages. Pat’s career was centered in property and casualty insurance. After eight years with Aetna Life marketing department, he purchased an Arlington, Va., insurance agency in 1972 with two employees and $800,000 in sales. In 1999, a bank purchased our agency which had grown to 50 employees and $95 million in sales. Pat married Patsy in 1963. They have lived in Virginia since 1968 and have a grown daughter, who with her husband, lives in the area with 5-year-old twins.
The Rt. Rev. Martyn Minns - Chairman Emeritus
Martyn was elected to serve as the founding Missionary Bishop of the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA) on June 28, 2006. He was duly consecrated a bishop in August 2006 and was installed as bishop in May 2007. From 1991 to 2007, Martyn served as Rector of Truro Church, Fairfax, Va., and is an Honorary Canon of All Saints Cathedral, Mpwapwa, Tanzania. Martyn also serves on a variety of mission and ministry boards. He is a charter member and member of the board of directors of the Compass Rose Society, established by the Archbishop of Canterbury to support the work of the Anglican Communion around the world. In addition, Martyn serves as president and chairman of the board of Church Army (USA), an organization dedicated to urban mission and is also chairman of the American Anglican Council – Virginia. Martyn was born and educated in England, obtaining a BSc (Hons) degree in mathematics and statistics from Birmingham University (1964). He moved to New York City in 1967. In 1965, he left Mobil Oil’s corporate staff and entered Virginia Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1978. He is married to Angela (1964); they have five children.

Mr. Jim Oakes
Jim is a 30-year veteran of the health care information systems industry, both in the United States and internationally. He served in corporate executive positions at McKesson/HBOC and at HIE Inc. He is co-founder and partner at Chrysalis Health Strategies, a health care information strategy consulting firm. He was also a co-founder of the Healthcare Technology Network of Greater Washington, which serves as a communication vehicle for high technology health care companies in the Washington, D.C. area. He has recently become engaged in efforts to teach business skills in developing countries. Jim holds a bachelor of industrial engineering and a master of science in industrial management, both from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Jim has been married to Peggy since 1972; they have three children.

Ms. Kimberly Pacala
Kim’s interest in serving the poor in developing countries stems from a St. Lawrence University semester abroad experience in Nairobi, Kenya, during the spring of 1977. Kim is a graduate of St. Lawrence with a bachelor’s degree in government. Her career in non-profit fund-raising started at Harvard Business School, followed by DePaul University and the Wolf Trap Foundation. From 2002 to 2006, Kim was a Regional Major Gift officer for The College of William and Mary in the greater Washington, D.C. area. She is currently Director of Development for Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks on Lake George, NY. Kim is a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in McLean, VA, and currently serves on the Planned Giving Committee. She also enjoys singing in the choir. Kim and her husband, Mark, split their time between their homes in Virginia, New York City and Silver Bay, NY. She has three children, ages 24, 22 and 19.

Mr. Cavin Philbin
Cavin has supported Five Talents since 2004 by raising awareness in Washington state and other parts of the West Coast. In 2006, he traveled with Five Talents to Uganda and Tanzania and in 2008 to the Philippines on Business as Mission trips. He has spent his adult life working in the seafood business and currently owns his own sales and marketing company, Ocean Foods. Cavin lives in Bellingham, Wash., and attends St. Brendan's Anglican Church. He is married and has three daughters.

The Rt. Rev. Gordon Scruton
Bishop Scruton was consecrated 8th Bishop of the Diocese of Western Massachusetts (www.diocesewma.org) in 1996 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Throughout his ministry, he has placed a strong emphasis on the development of the spiritual life of clergy and laity. He is a spiritual director and frequent conductor of retreats and conferences and published articles concerning spiritual life and congregational development. He has been active in local, state and New England ecumenical relationships. He is a member of the Episcopal Church Standing Commission on Stewardship and Development and chair of the House of Bishops Stewardship and Development Committee for the 2003 General Convention of the Episcopal Church. Bishop Scruton is married and has two children and two grandchildren.

Mr. Craig Cole - President and CEO
Before coming to start Five Talents (www.fivetalents.org), Craig spent four years with Food for the Poor, one of the largest relief and development organizations based in the United States. He held several program and fundraising positions while working extensively with churches in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially in Haiti. He is currently on the board of of Episcopalians for Global Reconcilliation, the Advisory Council for The Trinity Forum Academy and on the Diocese of Virginia Mission Committee. He is also a frequent speaker at conferences, churches and other events including the 2006 Microcredit Summit Campaign. He has a master’s degree in economic development from Eastern College, St. David’s, Pennsylvania. While there, he worked as a consultant with two non-profit organizations in inner-city Philadelphia. He has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of Iowa and worked for the Daily Herald newspaper (Chicago) for five years. His father and brother are both Episcopal priests. He is married and has two children.
