I’ve been home from my mission trip to Kenya and Uganda for several days now, and I am still struggling to fully process everything that I’ve experienced over there.
So many memories. So many emotions. So many ideas. So many questions.

I’m going to be joining a ministry called Five Talents International on a trip to Kenya and Uganda. Five Talents is a faith-based organization that specializes in microfinance. In case you are not familiar with what that is, it is a great tool used in the fight against extreme poverty. Basically it is just like you getting a small business loan, but these microloans are for small amounts like $50 that allow people to buy tools, equipment, or livestock that will help them to generate a regular income for themselves.

“They’re putting money into organizations that have experience with microfinance. That gives me comfort,” said Craig Cole, president of Five Talents International, a Christian microfinance organization. Somewhere in this work that God has been doing in me, I came across an incredible ministry and group of people called Five Talents International. These guys specialize in microfinance as a solution to poverty. The really cool thing about them is that they not only provide the loans to people, but also the training that they need in order to be successful with it!

Microfinance can also be supported by donating to charities such as Five Talents that seek to help those in need through microfinance initiatives.
James Caldwell, Fairinvestment.co.uk director, said: “Microfinance offers people the opportunity to change their own lives – not through charity, but through self-sufficient loans which are repaid and then used to help more people to fulfill their potential.”
