Support Five Talents’ Work in Sudan

Building from a successful program started in 2007 in the Wau District of southern Sudan, Five Talents and a consortium of organizations plan a bold expansion to enhance the economic well being of the local people and emerging business community in the area of Malakal in South Sudan.

We will implement a Literacy & Financial Education Program with the Episcopal Diocese of Malakal that will offer the following services:

1. Quality adult education beginning from literacy.
2. Local financial savings mobilization and provision of rural micro credit through accumulated savings and credit associations (ASCAs).
3. Hands-on business development training.
4. Development of social capital among micro-entrepreneurs.
5. Building the capacity of the Mothers' Union, a church-linked organization, to deliver the services listed above resulting in newly equipped leaders in the community.
6. Secondary services including household budgeting and savings training, business planning, and marketing assistance.

The entire project is expected to take 4.5 years and will directly impact 2,000 of the poor recovering from decades of civil war. This unique project is focused on building indigenous capacity where many have never had the chance to read a book. The cost is estimated at $45,000 a year. What My Gift Will Support:

• Your gift will be used to expand Five Talents’ Literacy & Financial Education Program to the Episcopal Diocese of Malakal in South Sudan.

• All new donors.
